Your Induction experience will start with check in between 7:00-8:00 pm. Be prepared by bringing a copy of your BSA Medical Form with you.
Please be prepared to sleep outside under the stars, No Tents Allowed. Below is a suggested equipment list for the Induction:
a. Sleeping Bag and Ground cloth or Tarp that can be pulled over top of you in case of bad weather.
b. Scout Uniform
c. Work clothes and work gloves
d. Personal medications and personal hygiene Items that may be needed.
e. Canteen or water bottle
f. Small flashlight
g. Extra clothes or coats that may be needed due to the climate and weather conditions.
Check in: Plan on checking in at the Induction site between 7:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. of the date of the Induction - usually this will be a Friday.
Pick Up: Dinner will be about 5:30-6:00 p.m. the next evening - Saturday for most Inductions. Parents are welcome to join us for dinner ($5 donations are always appreciated) and afterwards we will have a new members/parents meeting. We hope that all can join us as we talk about the future of the OA and how you can be a part of it. We will be done between 6:30-7:00 p.m.
Agenda: The Induction will consist of a special campfire on Friday night. You will be given a place to sleep and placed on silence for the 24 hour period. The next day you will be involved in service in and around the Induction site. It will be service that needs to be done at the camp or for the civic organization where we are holding the Induction. You will be on silence during this period of time. Meals will be provided and you are not allowed to bring any food. If you need special foods or have special medical needs during the Induction, please note that on your medical form and email the Lodge Adviser right away so your personal needs can be evaluated prior to showing up for the Induction. At the conclusion of the Induction you will attend a final campfire where your sash will be presented and you will be formally inducted as an Ordeal member of the Order of the Arrow. There will be no hazing or similar activities at the Induction. It is a time for you to reflect on your commitment to Scouting and to make some personal commitments.
Registration: Online Registration is open until about 2 days before each Induction. At the door registrations are discouraged, but can be allowed at the discretion of the Lodge Adviser (an additional fee will be charged for at the door registrations).
